With numerous awards and national 'top-rankings' to its credit, UC Berkeley is recognized worldwide as a leading educational and research facility. It also has its place in history, particularly in regard to the Vietnam era of the 60s when the peace movement originated here. Among other key factors, top-notch laboratories, libraries and staff contribute to its ongoing success. Currently, 7 faculty members at Berkeley have won a Nobel Prize (17 members all-time). The university has a myriad of museums and collections of various interests. These include the Phoebe Hearst Museum of Anthropology, Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive, The Botanical Garden, The Essig Museum of Entomology, Lawrence Hall of Science, The Museum of Paleontology and the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology. Free campus tours are available through Visitor Services.
